WBLLA Annual Meeting

Submitted by Pres. Horgen
The West Battle Lake Lakeshore Association had its annual meeting at the LACC on June 24, 2017. The Battle Lake Lions served their exemplary pancakes and good cheer to start off the event.
Steve Kirchner gave the treasurer’s report which indicated the association is financially healthy.
Spencer McGrew, Otter Tail County’s Aquatic Invasive Species Specialist gave a report on zebra mussels and starry stonewort.
Mike Kloubec gave a report on the Fish Committee which is working with the DNR to improve Walleye Fishing in West Battle.
Jerry Horgen reported on a comprehensive “Lake Aquatic Vegetation, Point Intercept Survey” being done over four days on West Battle to assess whether we have any invasive plants or any other invasive in our lake-we especially concerned about starry stonewort.  This study is being conducted by RMB Environmental Laboratories of Detroit Lakes.  RMB Labs will give a full report in open session by September and the report will be open to the public.  Look to our website and newspaper as to the exact date.
Updates were given on this past year’s accomplishments.  Dan Malmstrom gave a report of future developments with a facility on Glendalough State Park.
Finally, the lake association was very thankful for local businesses giving gift certificates to the restaurants which we had for drawings for those who attended.  Very simply, the West Battle Lake Lakeshore Association is doing its best to be servants of our lake.
