Ashby’s Main Street institution The City Restaurant has been sold. A partnership of individuals from the Ashby High School Class of 1974 have formed an LLC, purchasing the restaurant and adjoining bar.
Greg Smedsrud, spokesperson for the group including five of his classmates, spoke to a group of residents gathered Wednesday evening, July 27 as current owner Gail Johnson (above with Greg) hosted a get together/ thank you for your business picnic supper to customers.
The new ownership will be known as “The City Restaurant and Club 74”. The doors WILL REMAIN OPEN as updates and renovations are underway, as the group assumes ownership effective August 1, 2016. The coffee pot will be on for anyone who comes along at the coffee hour or whenever and it will be FREE all week!
