OTC Golfers Earn Academic Team Championship, Place Fifth At State

by Coach Mike Hepola
The Otter Tail Central Golf program was well represented down at the State Class A Golf Tournament in Becker last Tuesday and Wednesday. Although things didn't go as planned I'm so proud of both the boys and girls for their tremendous seasons.
The boys team finished 5th in the state with a 2-day total of 687 which was higher than our normal, but with a pretty young team nerves probably played a role in that a bit. We bounced back the 2nd day to go from 7th place to the 5th place finish.
Senior Adam Young led the way with a 10th place individual finish shooting 83-79 for a two day total of 162. Freshman Noah Chase finished in 16th place shooting 86-79 for a 165 total score.  Freshman Jackson Nyhus ended up in 43rd position with a 89-86 for a 175 total score.  Rounding out the boys team was Sophomore Drew Young 90-95 (185), Freshman Parker Fraki 103-101 (204) and Sr. Carter Frank 111-98 (209). Again very proud of these guys,  we'll miss the two seniors but hopefully this experience will lead to some  exciting seasons with that younger group.
On the girls side of things I can 100% honestly say our three senior girls played much better golf than their scores show. All of them hit the ball solid, but we just couldn't get any putts to drop and struggled on the fast greens.  Morgan Klintworth led the way with a 35th place finish shooting 94-93 for a 187 total.  Makenzie Vorderbruggen finished in 59th with 104-99 (203) and Greta Nyhus finished in 63rd place shooting 107-98 (205)
Best of luck to the 5 seniors in their future endeavors and looking forward to the rest of the golfers in the program to step up and continue to improve.
