The Great American Pastime Returns To Dalton

by Jerry Begley
If a group of enthusiastic Daltonians get their way, softball teams, leagues and tournaments will return to Dalton. Reminiscent of the 1950’s when the town supported teams from the Cafe, Tavern, Bait Shop and Hatchery, fundraising efforts are well underway to renew the baseball field and spectators areas.
Fundraising events featuring hot dogs and hamburgers have raised over $500 and volunteers have completed renovations of spectator areas and repair of field lighting is underway. Local businesses have contributed time and material for the renovation.  H&R Construction provided low cost aluminum planks for seating, 1st Choice Tree Service is using their hi-lift basket truck to replace field lighting bulbs and the Corner Store has donated food for events.
