Norma S. Kittelson

Norma S. Kittelson, 94, of Fergus Falls, formerly of Dalton, died Monday, January 15, 2018 at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls.
Memorial service was 2 p.m. Saturday, January 20 at Zion-Sarpsborg Free Lutheran Church in Dalton with Pastor Mark Johnson officiating. A visitation was one hour prior to the service. Interment was in the Sarpsborg Lutheran Cemetery.
Norma Sylvia was born  October 3, 1923 on the family farm two miles north of Dalton, the daughter of Nels O. and Selma (Simonson) Fossan. She graduated from Ashby High School in 1942. In 1973, she graduated from the Fergus Falls Community College Licensed Practical Nursing Program at the age of 50 years old.
June 9, 1945 she married Orris Bergan at the Lutheran Parsonage in Dalton. The couple resided in Dalton where she worked as a farmer’s wife and caregiver. Orris later passed away.
June 2, 1964 she married Vernon Thorstad in Webster, South Dakota. The couple moved many different places including Red Lodge and Billings, Montana. While in Red Lodge, Norma owned and operated Norma’s Pizza. She later moved back to the Fergus Falls area where she worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for the State Hospital for 10 years and retired from there in 1988.
September 2, 1996 she married Harley Kittelson at Zion-Sarpsborg Lutheran Church in Dalton. Harley passed away in 2010.
Her hobbies include crocheting, knitting, fishing, bowling and watching the Minnesota Twins, Westerns and Wheel of Fortune.
Preceding her in death were her parents and husbands, Orris Bergan, Vernon Thor-stad and Harley Kittelson.
Survivors include three children, Marcia Franklin of Fergus Falls, Faye (Jerry) Wells of Helena, Montana and Jesse (Jill) Thorstad of Fergus Falls; along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, cou-sins and a host of friends.
