Mavis Olson

Mavis Olson, 91 of Battle Lake died Thursday, February 22, 2018 at the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday February 25, 2018 at Eagle Lake Lutheran Church of rural Battle Lake with Rev. Bradley Skogen officiating. Interment was in Eagle Lake Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Visitation was one hour prior to the service.

Mavis Violet Olson was born April 26, 1926 by Clitherall, Minnesota the daughter of Bernie and Amanda (Floen) Erickson.  She was baptized and confirmed in Nidaros Lutheran Church. She attended the Clitherall School and graduated from Battle Lake High School in 1944.

Mavis and Robert Olson were married November 21, 1944 in Henning, Minnesota.  In 1948, they purchased their farm in Eagle Lake Township, where they first raised turkeys and then began dairy farming.  Robert died November 23, 1981 and Mavis continued to live on the farm until April of 2017, when she entered the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center. Mavis enjoyed cooking, the outdoors, and working on the family farm.

She is survived by three children, John (Sue) Olson and David (Julie) Olson, all of Battle Lake and Judy (Kevin) Little of Coon Rapids; 10 grandchildren, Tony (Melissa) Olson, Katie (Craig) Brye, Ryan (Lindsay Haugen) Olson, Scott (Shawn Manley) Olson, Mikki (Jay) Ebel, Joe (Rachel Hubbling) Olson, Andrew (Kelsey) Olson, Jenna (Brian) Bell, Joshua and Jordan Little; nine great-grandchildren, Isaac and McKenna Brye, Aiden and Bennett Olson, Britney (Mitchell) Ronhovde, Christian Bevins, Jessica and Aiden Ebel and Abigail Bell; and by numerous relatives and friends.

Mavis was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Olson and her longtime companion, William Bjerketvedt.
