Bulldogs Earn Consolation, Naddy Champion

The OTC Bulldogs won the Consolation Championship, crowned an individual state champion and had three other place winners at the MSHSL State Wrestling Championships this past week.
The Bulldogs drew #1 and defending state champions Zumbrota-Mazeppa first round, but came out and gave the Cougars a tough first round match. RJ Ehlert ended the match with a pin to make the final score 19-37. The Bulldogs continued to wrestle strong in the next two duels as they took down #5 seed Kenyon Wanamingo 55-15 and then defeated Blackduck Cass Lake Bena 39-23 to capture the Consolation Championship in their first State Championship appearance.
Outstanding recognition for team was given by 99.5 FM to Matt Hendricks against Zumbrota-Mazeppa, to Marc Hendricks against Kenyon Wanamingo and to Alex Erlandson against Blackduck Cass Lake Bena. Bulldogs All State team members were Ben Naddy, Nate Hart and Matt Hendricks.
OTC also had four individual place winners, which was the most of all time. Ben Naddy, who is a four-time entrant and three-time place winner captured his very first state title at 113 lbs. Marc Hendricks placed sixth in his first state appearance at 120, Nate Hart place fourth in his second state appearance at 132 and RJ Ehlert captured sixth in his first state appearance at 285. Other achievements by Bulldog wrestlers were Nate Hart and Ben Naddy getting 150 career wins, while team mate Marc Hendricks got his 100th career win.
