A Vision Finally Coming True

Child Care Center Groundbreaking Ceremony Kicks Off Construction Phase
For many young families in the lakes area, an option for quality child care was recently introduced on a beautiful spring day in the presence of well over 250 people, many who have donated to get this project to the point of starting construction. A groundbreaking ceremony for the Battle Lake Area Child Care Center took place Saturday, April 21 at the center’s future site on Olaf Avenue, just north of the Oasis Restaurant.
When construction is completed on the center, scheduled for the fall of 2018, it will be owned by the current non-profit organization, Battle Lake Youth Center Inc. Overall management and daily operation will be the responsibility of Tiny Tykes, an experienced child care company running centers in Wahpeton and Milno, ND. The Battle Lake center will have a capacity for 42 children including up to 12 infants.
The visionary for the Battle Lake Child Care Center, Mike Henkenius, passed away in March 2017.  His entire family was present at groundbreaking to help celebrate Mike’s vision coming close to reality.
