Bruce D. Ranted MAC(SW, SS) USN, Retired – Florida

June 28th 2018, at the age of 66, Bruce Dale Ranstad passed away peacefully at his home due to lung cancer.
Chief Ranstad attended Battle Lake School, graduating in 1969, before joining the Navy. He served 20 years, the first 6 years with naval intelligence teams, then elected to convert his specialty to military police for the remaining 14 years.
His awards included the Navy Achievement Medal, Vietnam Service, 5 Naval Expeditionary Medals and 5 Meritorious Unit awards for operations with intel teams, 5-Battle “E”s 2-CG Special Operations for counter-drug operations in the Caribbean; 5 Navy Good Conduct; 4 Sea service; 3 Overseas Service; Expert Rifle and Expert Pistol.
Breast insignia’s included Enlisted Surface Warfare; Enlisted Submarine Service, Parachute and Army Air Assault Wings.
Chief Ranstad served onboard an aircraft carrier, two destroyers and three nuclear submarines in addition to shore commands in Spain, Japan, Mississippi, Florida and Puerto Rico.
Following his military retirement, he worked for States of North Dakota and Florida as a Public Assistance Case Worker and Welfare Fraud Investigator, and in Minnesota at Larry’s Foods and Ron’s Ready Mart.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Adriana Ranstad of Florida; daughter, Kirstin (Mike) Sawicki of Sanibel, Florida; son, Nicholas (Lacy) Ranstad of Tacoma, Washington; grandchildren, Scarlett, Sean and Kate; parents, Dick and June Ranstad; and his siblings Karen Seviour of Bemidji, Mike (Pam) Ranstad, Judy Ranstad Lankow, Lorie (David) Fix, all of Battle Lake, and Patty  (Bob) Edlund of Fargo along with several nieces and nephews.
