Most Patriotic Decorated

On the 4th of July the Battle Lake American Legion sponsored a contest for the most patriotic decorated homes. Three judges of local Post 289 drove through the streets of Battle Lake searching and evaluating homes to see which homes had the most patriotic themes. Judging included flags displayed, banners, bunting, etc. The judges said that the competition was keen and a close contest – so close that the judges declared the competition a tie. The winners were Jeff and Vicki Hull of 402 W. Main (above) and Dewey Moulton of 407 W. Holdt St. (below).

Honorable mention went to Barry and Gail Nelson at 301 N.Jefferson Ave. (above. Each winner will be awarded the first place prize of $100. We, the American Legion, encourage everyone to display their flags on all special holidays and every day if possible. Let’s let everyone know Battle Lake is a town full of pride and patriotism, not just on holidays but every day. Your Proud Veterans of American Legion Post 289 thank you for your support.
