Trojans Trample Knights 38-14

Offensive linebacker Gavin Paulson #53, widereceiver Jordan Lohse #5 and runningback Tanner Bennet #42 share in a tackle.

Friday, September 14th the 1-1 West Central Area/Ashby Knights traveled to Barnesville to face a #4 ranked 2-0 Trojan football team. It did not take more than the first series to understand everything about Friday night was going to be fast. Barnesville is good, very good, they are also very fast. They have sound athletes who have the necessary combination of size, strength and speed. They are well coached and fundamentally sound. It is a formidable recipe that lends itself to success and even when cheering for the Knights it was easy to sit back and watch a top five team operate. If a reader ever gets a chance to visit Barnesville on a Friday night and a football game is happening, it is worth the stop. It is a fun atmosphere and you may even hear John Denver cranking out across the sound system, the crowd obviously knows the song as they sang “Thank God I’m a Country Boy” loud and proud.

Quarterback Isaiah Sykora looks for an open teammate.
