Home ›Lady Battlers Start Season With Two Losses
The Battle Lake girls basketball team started the new season with a home game against the Park Christian Falcons. The Battlers fell behind early and were never able to recover. The Falcon´s aggressive full court defense created a number of Battler turnovers that they were able to convert into early offense. By the half, the Falcons had established a 20-40 lead. In the second half, Battle Lake cleaned up some of the turnovers and played a more even period. By the end of the game, the Falcons left town with a 71-40 win.
The Battlers girls traveled to Lake Park and once again faced an aggressive defensive team in the LPA Raiders. The Battlers struggled on the offensive end of the court against that Raider pressure and could only muster 14 points in the first half. At the break the Raiders held a 23-point advantage. The Battlers played a better second half but still could not cut into the lead and the final score was LPA 67, Battle Lake 31.
