Darlene M. (Odegaard) Langlie, 87 of Blaine, Minnesota died Monday, January 1, 2024 at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids. Darlene was born June 16, 1936 in rural Dalton to Olaf and Josefine (Elliott) Odegaard. Darlene attended school in Dalton. She worked for the Ashby Cafe, then moved to Fargo and worked at Manchester Cookie Co. It was here that she met her future husband, Gerald (Gary) Langlie. They were married August 25, 1958 in Dalton. After their marriage, she lived in Germany while her husband served in the military. Once they returned to Minneapolis she worked for Sears-Roebuck & Co. on their material floor where she cut orders. She truly enjoyed and talked fondly about it and her co-workers. September 12, 1961 they were blessed with a boy, Michael Neal Langlie. She continued to work until 1967. Darlene was fortunate to take her father, Olaf back to Norway a few times with her husband and son. After Gary retired, they purchased property in Florida and became sun birds from January-April. After Gerald’s passing, Darlene continued to live in their home in Blaine where she enjoyed caring for her flower garden, building puzzles, talking with sisters and being with family. In her last years, she was diagnosed with Dementia, and cared for by her son and family, whom she never forgot. She is so very loved. She was preceded in death by her parents, Olaf and Josefine; husband, Gerald; granddaughter, Rina Langlie; brothers, Edwin, John, Gilbert and Leonard; and sisters, Ann Nolte and Adell Frovarp. Darlene is survived by her son, Michael (Lori) Langlie; grandchildren, Kyle and Dalton Langlie; and sisters, Mary Moebius and Sandra Odegaard. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, January 18, 2024 at the Kozlak-Rad-ulovich Funeral Chapel, 1385 107th Ave. NE., Blaine, MN 55434. Funeral Service at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Peace Lutheran Church, 306 Larson St., Ashby, MN with visitation at 10 a.m. Burial to follow in Zion Cemetery at Dalton, MN.
