Betty Lou Davenport – Battle Lake, MN

Betty Lou Davenport, 79, of Battle Lake, MN peacefully passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2024 surrounded by family after fighting a difficult battle with cancer and several health issues. Betty Lou was born July 25, 1944 to Arthur and Martha Isaak in Bismarck, ND. Betty graduated from Center Senior High School in 1963 and began her profession working at the state auditor’s office in Bismark, ND. June 10, 1967 Betty Lou married Donald Calvin Davenport (“Couch”) from Plentywood, MT. Betty and Don resided in Grand Forks, ND where they had their first daughter, Pam O’Connor (Daniel) who currently resides in Chanhassen, MN. In 1970, they moved to Fergus Falls, MN where they had 2 more children, Troy Davenport (Candi) currently of Minnetonka, MN and Dee Kingsbury (Mark) of Becker, MN. Throughout their time in Fergus Falls, Betty Lou ran her own daycare business out of the home and spent 22 years at Productive Alternatives working with adult mentally challenged residents who absolutely adored her. In 1995, Don and Betty relocated to their lake home on Clitherall Lake, MN. Betty Lou absolutely loved everything about the lake no matter what time of year including happy hours on the deck, pontoon rides, snowmobiling and most importantly spending time with special neighbor’s, family and friends. Every week she looked forward to being part of the Pool & Farkle Tuesday afternoon group at Marie’s in Underwood and enjoying dinners out Wed-nesday night at local restaurants with longtime friends, including regular trips to the “Health Club” in Clitherall to enjoy a beverage and of course play pull tabs. Betty Lou’s pride and joy was spending time with her grandchildren: Kelly and Shane O’Connor (Pam), Ella Jane Davenport (Troy), Tyler and Halia Hauer (Dee). She loved spending time at the lake with them, attending sporting events, playing games, spoiling them during the holidays, going to turtle races, ice cream runs to Granny’s Pantry and watching them from the deck with a Busch Latte or Bacardi Coke in hand.
