NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING AND INTENT TO ADOPT THE VACATION HOME RENTAL ORDINANCE NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN pursuant to the provisions of Minnesota Statutes 375.51 Subdivision 2, that the Otter Tail County Board of Commissioners intends to adopt the “Vacation Home Rental Ordinance”. The proposed ordinance revision will be considered at a meeting of the Otter Tail County Board of Commissioners in the County Board Room at the Government Services Center, at 500 West Fir Ave, Fergus Falls, Minnesota on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 10:00 a.m. The purpose of the proposed ordinance is to allow the use of private vacation home rentals, but also mitigate possible adverse impacts to the public’s health, safety and welfare and quality of life of surrounding properties. The ordinance establishes and enforces the licensing of vacation home rentals and strikes a balance between protecting property owners’ private property rights, enhancing localized economic activity and tourism, and preserving the residential integrity of neighborhoods. Copies of the proposed “Vacation Home Rental Ordinance” are available on the Otter Tail County website (ottertailcounty.gov/department/land-and-resource-management) and at the Land & Resource Management department, located at 540 W Fir Ave, Fergus Falls, MN 56537. All interested persons are invited to attend the meeting or submit written testimony prior to the hearing date. Written testimony must be submitted to the County Administrator’s office, 520 West Fir Ave, Fergus Falls, MN 56537 and must be submitted by no later than 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2024.
