Gloria Beatrice (Nelson) Ohren, 93, of Ashby, passed away Monday, July 15, 2024 at the Ashby Living Center, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born March 30, 1931 in Minneapolis, Minnesota the daughter of Peter and Edith (Holmstrom) Nelson. She was baptized and confirmed with Christina Lake Lutheran Church, attended Rural School District #35 in Lund Township and graduated from Evansville High School in 1949. Gloria and Cecil Ohren were married June 16, 1949 at her parent’s home. After their marriage, they dairy farmed by Evansville. She was a homemaker raising her family and was employed with Crestview Manor Nursing Home for several years. After her re-tirement, she enjoyed being a Foster Grandparent for 15 years with the Ashby School. Gloria enjoyed puzzles, quilting, flower gardening, dancing, crocheting and em-broidery. Gloria and Cecil did some traveling, enjoyed eating out, she liked babysitting the grandchildren and especially enjoyed time with her family. She was a member of Christina Lake Lutheran Church. She is survived by her four children, Linda (Rich-ard) Walton of Ashby, Shar-on (Tim) Harris of Tombstone, AZ; Gary (Barb) Ohren of Battle Lake and Terry (Teresa) Ohren of Ashby; 11 grandchildren, Jason (Baillie)Walton, Darla (Troy) Thimjon, Larry (Hei-di) Grove, Kim Grove, Justin (Ashley) Ohren, Ashley (Elijah) Hokanson, Tony Ohren, Tom Ohren, Chris Ohren, Matthew Ohren and Blake (Gab-by) Ohren; and 21 great-grandchildren, Gracelyn, Layton, Lennox Walton; Tylee, Blaze and Tawny (Seth Buck) Thimjon; Gennett (Savannah) Grove, Lucy, Kiera, Ira and Bridger Ohren; Finley, Piper and Saylor, Harvey Hokanson; Averie, Elizabeth, Landon, Eisley, Paxten and Boston (Ohren). Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Edith Nelson; and her husband, Cecil in October of 1997. Memorial service was Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at 2 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior at the Christina Lake Church in Evansville, Minnesota. Interment at Christina Lake Cemetery.
