Julie Renee (Evavold) Satterlie – Evansville, MN

Julie Renee (Evavold) Satterlie was born December 10, 1962 to Rick and Judy (Runningen) Evavold in Alexandria, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran in Ashby, MN. She graduated from Ashby Public School in 1980. She attended Alexandria Technical College for Fashion Merchandising. She fell in love and was married to Randy Satterlie October 30, 1981. She and her husband bought the Satterlie Farm in Evansville, where they rais-ed a family and cared for the land. They, along with Eric and DeAnn Satterlie began Satterlie Custom Harvesting in 1986. The family business took them from Oklahoma to the Canadian border following the wheat harvest. Julie was a secretary at many local schools and a business in Elbow Lake. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and served on the Evansville School Board for 6 years. Julie purchased Common Threads Quilt Shop of Alexandria and moved the quilt shop to Garfield, MN. In the fall of 2014, Julie was diagnosed with an auto-immune disorder that a-ttacked her lungs. By the gift of organ donation, she received a double lung transplant March 1, 2018 at M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center. She called this her “New Birthday”. She was blessed with 6 and a half miracle years. Julie’s steadfast, Christian faith and commitment to true tradition reflected her deep, rooted values, shaping the way she lived her life. Julie had a beautiful spirit and appreciated the true essence of living. She had a heart full of love and joy and always aimed to make her families day a little brighter. She always had a smile on her face and a sparkle in her eye. Julie’s planning and organizational skills made her an exceptional coordinator when anyone needed help. She had a talent bringing structure and order to activities. She was involved even when her disease restricted her to being homebound. She still wanted to help, saying “Let me do the phone calls; that’s something I can do; tell me what I can do to help from here in the house”. Julie enjoyed quilting, scrapbooking, traveling with her husband, reading, cooking, baking and especially spending time with her grandkids. She had a glorious singing voice and her laughter was recognizable anywhere. She fed the masses from the back of her Suburban, she made a significant impact on her community, she was the best wife and mother and she worked hard. Julie passed peacefully surrounded by her family Sunday, August 4, 2024 at M. Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center. She is survived by her husband, Randy Satterlie; daughters, Katie (Grant) Satterlie-Trisko, Danielle (Aa-ron) Wurm and Holly (Trent) Thoennes; grandchildren, Parker, Aikley and Cooper Thoennes, Sibley and Declan Wurm; mother, Judy Eva-vold; and sister, Kristi Eva-vold. She is preceded in death by her father, Rick Evavold; and grandsons, Payton and Leighton Thoennes. Life is good! God is great! Fellowship following the service. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church and will resume one hour prior to the service Saturday.
