John C. Dahlager, 93, of Fergus Falls, died Sunday, November 10, 2024 under the care of hospice. John Conley Dahlager was born December 29, 1930 in Lakeland, Florida to Christopher and Annie (Conley) Dahlager. In 1949 he graduated from high school and in 1957 he graduated from Valley City State College with a Bachelor’s Degree. John served in the United States Navy from 1951-1954 at Barbers Point, Oahu, Hawaii. December 8, 1953 John married Beverly Jean Berg-man in Oahu, Hawaii. After teaching four years in North Dakota, John and his family moved to Minnesota where he was employed as a continuing educator. He re-tired from Regional Treatment Center as a Structured Program Assistant. He continued to be active in his church and the American Legion. He also enjoyed participating in Sons of Norway, Toastmasters International (Fergus Falls Club #5292), National Rifle Association and Fergus Falls Rifle and Pistol Club. John loved hunting, fishing, fly-tying, his artwork, gardening and most importantly reading. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Beverly. John is survived by his children, Kathi (Mark) Ha-gen, Jessica Dahlager, Wayne Dahlager and John Christopher (Tamara) Dahlager; grandchildren, Clarinda Loving, Renee Standish, Sheila Strickland, Ashley Haun, John Allen Dahlager and James Dahlager; 18 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Heitzman; niece, Laurie Larson; one nephew and two great-nephews. Funeral service was 1 p.m. Friday, November 15, 2024 at Zion Sarpsborg Free Lutheran Church in Dalton, MN with Reverend Mark Johnson officiating. Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment was at Zion Cemetery of Dalton, MN with Military Participation by Ashby American Legion Post 357.
