Battle Lake Community Mourns Loss Of Two In Two Days

Otter Tail County Sheriff Deputies and Minnesota State Highway Patrol were called to a semi-truck and passenger vehicle accident by Wall Lake (five miles east of Fergus Falls) on Hwy. 210 Thursday, December 5, 2024 about 9:19 a.m. near Mile Marker 33. According to officials, Cadence Monroe Hartman (18 years old) of Battle Lake was heading west on 210 when his 2006 Cadillac SRX collided head-on with an eastbound 2024 Western Star Tractor Truck Semi.

Our second fatality was McKayla Ann Schicker (27 years old) of Fergus Falls was killed Friday, December 6 when her SUV crashed into a Carr’s Tree Service boom truck at Mile Marker 36 on Highway 78 near Ottertail City. McKayla was not wearing a seat belt.
