Thursday, December 5, 2024 the light and rhythm of Cadence’s life was taken from us all too early, but instantly he was living in Jesus’ light singing praises in heaven. He loved Jesus, his family (especially his brother Clayton), church, music, theater, scouting, camping and computers. Cadence had a large heart for others and wanted to be helpful whenever he could. He leaves a legacy of his smile, quick wit and helpfulness. Cadence Monroe Hartman was born in Buffalo, MN May 19, 2006. He moved with his family to the Battle Lake area when he was a year and a half, and has called Battle Lake home ever since. He often commented that after college he wanted to move back to the area. Cadence was involved in church activities such as youth group, running the slides during the services, attending the national youth conference and attending camp at Inspiration Point. In high school he was in band, choir, musical theater, speech, student council, Knowledge Bowl and BPA. He participated in Boy Scouts starting as a Cub Scout through to earning his Eagle Scout earlier this year. This fall at MState he participated in the choirs, band and musical. His most joyous times were spent watching and participating in musicals. He is survived by his loving parents, Jonathan and Angela; his cherished brother, Clayton; grandparents, Galen and Laura Youngsma, William and Martha Sprague, and Becky Hartman; along with uncles and aunts, Lucas and Carissa Youngsma, Corey and Stacy Goode, and Erick Hartman; and cousins, Vara and Landon Youngsma, Marissa and Connor Goode. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Samuel Hart-man. A celebration of Cadence’s life will be Saturday, December 14th at Bethel Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. with a service to follow at 2 p.m. Internment will be in the spring at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Amor, MN. As we remember Cadence, we invite you to share your cherished memories with us. Whether it’s a story, a favorite photo or even a video recollection, please send anything that brings a smile or a fond memory to mind to memoriesofcadence@gmail.com. Whenever you think of Cadence, we would love for you to share those moments so we can remember and rejoice together. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Bethel Battle Lake Youth Group, Fergus Area College Foundation or Inspiration Point Camp.
