Home ›The Loved, The Lost and Found. A Humane Society Recap of 2024

As the only shelter serving the residents of Otter Tail County, the Humane Society welcomes diversity and provides compassionate care for all pets – the good, the bad, the ugly, the adorable, the healthy, sick and injured. The mission to find homes for the homeless animals and to connect friends for life is the most important and rewarding work for shelter staff and volunteers. In 2024, 601 animals came through the shelter doors either by owner relinquishment, strays, acquired by animal control officers or transferred from other shelters. Proudly, 364 were adopted and another 122 lost animals were reunited with their worried owners. An additional 138 dogs and cats were fed through the HSOTC emergency food pantry program.
