A celebration of life service was Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at the Osakis First Presbyterian church at 11 a.m. Visitation was that day from 10-11 a.m. A time of fellowship followed the service. A private burial will take place later at Calvary Cemetery in Osakis. Entering the world with the most radiant smile, Ann Marie (Kassa) Hartmann was born March 15, 1961 to Ivan and Dorothy Kassa in Fergus Falls, MN. She graduated from Ashby High School and later went on to pursue her studies in becoming a dental assistant, a career that reflected her caring nature. Ann was first and foremost a loving mother. She was blessed with two amazing children, Ben and Amanda, and embraced the title of being a mom to the fullest. Later, she met the love of her life, Paul Hartmann. Together, they built a wonderful life together and welcomed a son, Paul 11, completing their beautiful family. Music was a deep and enduring passion for Ann. She generously shared her gift through her involvement on the praise tear, as a voice director and by singing at countless weddings. Her creativity also flourished in other ways-she advised her husband on designs and finishes of their many projects, had a talent for refinishing furniture, and nurtured an impressive collection of plants inside and outside with her enviable green thumb. Of all the roles Ann held, being a grandmother was one she cherished deeply. Her heart stretched even wider with the arrival of her grandchildren, whom she loved fiercely and unconditionally. Ann was an active soul. She enjoyed her daily walks and later developed a fascination with bird watching. With bird books in hand, she found great joy in observing what Paul lovingly referred to as her “lousy birds”. Known for her boundless kindness, deep faith and wise counsel, Ann was a source of inspiration to her family and friends. She had a remarkable ability to forgive, offer comfort, and pray deeply for others. May 11, 2025-fittingly, Mother’s Day-Ann was called home after a courageous battle with cancer. Heaven gained a remarkable woman whose legacy of love, faith, and grace will continue to shine in all who were fortunate to know her. Ann leaves behind her husband of 32 years, Paul Hartmann; children, Ben (Shannon) Geones, Amanda (Tim Lang) Geones and Paul (Emma Olson) Hartmann 11; grandchildren, MCKerma and Olivia Geones, Robert, Adam, Brooklynn Lee and Jakob Lang; and many nieces and nephews. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Ivan and Dorothy Kassa; brothers, Danny Kassa and Tom Kaasa; and sister, Janet Makela. Arrangements for Ann are with the Iten Funeral Home of Browerville.
