This One’s For Ruben … Hide Donation To FF Veterans Home

Veteran Ruben Runningen was a Resident of the Minnesota Veterans Homes – Fergus Falls from 2017 until his passing in April 2019. He had a deep love for the outdoors, hunting and especially trapping and selling furs. Runningen Furs has been a family-owned and operated business for over 125 years.

In 2020, the Runningen family began collecting hides from various locations throughout west central Minnesota to raise money for Veterans Recreation and Bingo, activities that Ruben truly enjoyed. Runningen Furs places boxes at convenience stores in Grant, Douglas and Otter Tail Counties where hunters can donate their deer hides toward this worthy cause in honor of Ruben and current Veterans, according to Erick Blaisdell, Ruben’s grandson-in-law and an active member of Hides for Heroes.
